Methylcobalamin Injection contains methylcobalamin which is a man-made form of Vitamin B12 and is essential for brain function, nerve health, and red blood cell production. This medication is specially used to treat deficiency of vitamin B12 in people with peripheral neuropathy (nerve pain in hands and feet) and anaemia. It regulates various vital bodily functions like blood formation, cell multiplication, and protein synthesis.

Is Methylcobalamin Injection safe to use?
Methylcobalamin Injection is generally well tolerated and considered to be safe. However, in rare cases, some side effects may be observed in some patients such as diarrhoea, nausea, anorexia and rash. Stop taking this medicine immediately and consult your doctor if a rash occurs.

How should Methylcobalamin Injection be given?
Methylcobalamin Injection can be injected intravenously (directly into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle). The usual dose of medication is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Methylcobalamin Injection) and is given 3 times in one week. After 2 months, it is given between one to three months as a maintenance therapy.

What precautions should I take while administering Methylcobalamin Injection?
Try to avoid using Methylcobalamin Injection at the same site every time. While injecting this medication if there is intense pain or if your blood flows back into the syringe, then immediately take out the needle and re-insert it at different sites of your body.

Can this medication be taken while breastfeeding?
This medication is considered to be unsafe for breastfeeding mothers as this is directly excreted into the milk which can cause harm to your baby.
